There is an effort going on by Florida’s Republican Governor Rick Scott to “to identify and remove non-U.S. citizens from the voter rolls.” However, the data being used is outdated and inaccurate, resulting in hundreds, possibly even thousands of eligible registered voters being mistakenly identified as non-citizens and removed from the voting rolls. The Florida government has been notified and knows that the data is flawed, but continues to go forward with the purge. Due to the extent of this scandal, I am devoting an entire posting to list links to stories concerning this.

I just need to weigh in on the Trayvon Martin case given this story.
So, according to Craig Sonner, George Zimmerman’s attorney, and Zimmerman’s friend Joe Oliver, Zimmerman did not use a racial slur, but said “goon”, which they contend is a term of endearment.
Sorry, but I call not only bullshit, but MAJOR FUCKING BULLSHIT!!!! Assuming that Zimmerman did say “goon” instead of “coon” (sorry to use the racial slur, but let’s not dwell too much on this point of clarification), the term “goon” is hardly a better replacement, and certainly NOT a “term of endearment”.
According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, goon means:
1: a stupid person
2 a : a man hired to terrorize or eliminate opponentsb : enforcer 2b
Who the hell do Sonner, Oliver, and Zimmerman think they’re fooling? If the roles were reverse and it was a white teen “armed” with a bag of Skittles and an iced tea shot by a black adult, with all other facts of the case being the same, there would be an outrage being spewed forth by the Right.
Sadly, even after more than 40 years, racism in the South is still very much alive and thriving.
